Preparation of fibre optic cables
LWL Fibre Tube No. 2
Weicon
Tools strippers enable the fast and safe stripping of all common round cables.
The product line of stripping tools includes different models that have been
developed for various applications. Based on the classic Coax-Stripper No. 2,
which is easy to handle and boasts an ergonomic design, Weicon has developed a
special tool for preparing fibre optic cables – the LWL Fibre Tube No. 2.
Preparing fibre optic cables
The
stripping tool LWL Fibre Tube No. 2 was designed to provide fast access to the
optical fibres in loose tubes with a diameter of 1.2 mm to 4 mm. It
is suitable for a tube thickness from 0.15 mm to 0.6 mm.
By means of the knife in the module and a special positioner, the loose tube can easily be arranged in this handy tool. This gives the user fast and reliable access to the optical fibre.
The knife in the stripper slightly cuts the loose tube (e.g. made of PE); the user can then easily bend it off without damaging the sensitive optical fibre. If necessary, the positioner and the blade in the half-shells can be replaced or renewed as modules.
Ergonomics and safety
In addition to considerations of user friendliness, ergonomics and intuitive handling were taken into account in the development of the tool. The ergonomically-shaped handle ensures a safe grip of the tool and therefore safe usage. Since the blades are located inside the tool, the risk of injury is significantly reduced.
Made in Germany
As
usual with Weicon Tools, the stripper was developed and manufactured entirely
in Germany. The tool – made of robust glass-fibre reinforced polyamide – was
produced in the German town of Ascheberg, Westphalia, and the steel for the blades
is from Solingen. The tool is 110 mm long, weighs 36 grammes and is
supplied in a recyclable cardboard packaging.
